A wee gripe... My husband (very politely I may add) told me a few weeks ago that I was spending too much time knitting and that the house could really be a bit tidier and that he was happy to help with a few bits and pieces. So far so good ay. Enter my first chance to go away on my own overnight since Jackson was little. I went a little late so that Brendon could get through his doubles in tennis before dropping the kids off with him. Still so far so good, a bit of give and take on both sides.
My night was great did a bit of drinking and socialising and eating and staying up late because I wouldn't have to get up early. Great night! Got acquainted with 'the teapot' and had manys cups of 'tea'. I also had many laughs at the men sculling wine back after having drunk a lot of beer only to see them proceed to vomit into the wheeley bins - at least they were thinking ahead about not having to clean it up! It was a great time. I headed home about 2pm the next day. Still felt a bit buggered so I picked up some dinner on the way home.
This is where it all started to go a bit pear shaped - I got home. Yep. Home. I hadn't left it perfect because Hubby had said that he was happy to help out. Not only had no help been applied to what I left but I am pretty sure that they (the kids and hubby) put everything on the floor that they had their hands on! No bench to be seen. The washing that was asked to be hung out, still in the basket. Dishwasher not unpacked. Floor that needed vacuumed (i had done it before i left). In general Crap everywhere.
Now I know that housework might not be a man's forte but seriously! So I cleaned up while they ate their dinner - I think they must have starved as well because it was all very wild animalish. So once the kids were bathed and into bed I asked Hubby why it was in such a state when it was exactly what he had asked me not to let it get into that state. Do you know his answer????? What? I was looking after the kids. Yep folks, he was looking after the kids..... Because clearly if you look after kids there isn't enough time or energy to clean up. Apparently. Because I don't do that all day everyday.
Anyway, gripe over. And on a very exciting note I have not long cast on the sleeves for my 2nd baby jacket of the same design but in a different colour scheme. I prefer it this way. When they are both done (and blocked) I will post some photos up. Once i have done these I am hoping a friend of mine will like one of them and take it for her baby due in April. She has asked me to knit her a jacket but hasn't found any patterns that she definately likes. So I am knitting these to see if she likes them and if she doesn't then there are a few other babes being born that time this year - in fact found out about another this morning - so they can have them.
I'm not sure I'd mentioned that we had been very dry here, they were talking about declaring a drought. Since then we've had over 5 inches of rain! Thank the Lord! so we are finally growing some grass again. We are having a beautiful if not a wee touch windy day here today. So we are growing grass, hopefully at a rate of knots shortly. And I'm almost completely up to date with the washing. You know, apart from the 5 changes of clothes from the kids today. Plus of course it is time to change the beds but I think that can wait a couple of days.
I am off to a meeting tonight. The first of the year so a planning meeting. But I have made a very tasty looking slice to bring along Oaty Caramel Slice. mmmmm. The recipe book tells me that it is only for very special occasions. I figure I can skip that if I am sharing it around :)

So I think for my first post I'll make it an introductory one to, well, me! and of course my family, which will be oft talked about.
So I'm a married mother of 2, although at times it feels like 3 children! I guess marriage just works that way sometimes. I live on a dairy farm of 750 cows. I am a SAHM but when the farm is your home, well the 'stay at home' bit is often spread over the 400ha that we cover.
I knit quite compulsively. Even though my children are older i really only like knitting baby and toddler things and Hats. I do so love me some hats! Most of knitting finds homes easy enough as there are always plenty of people having another or wanting something knitted for someone else as a gift. I also decorate cakes, this is a very part time hobby as it is quite expensive! Although any excuse... :D I look longingly at other peoples gardens. A green thumb is not just lacking, it has been said that I drive plants to commit suicide just by looking at them! However I have planted out a small area with some plants and haven't managed to kill them yet. Oh, that's kind of a lie.... I did spray one off about a month ago...
We have 2 labradors, griff & mac, and one white cat, phasil, he was known once upon a time as Basil. My lovely 2 year old when he started speaking managed to rename him. I also have 4 chickens. I love all my chickens dearly. Even though only one has a name. Chickens are awesome.
My children are 4 & 2 both birthdays in about 3 months. Both boys. Aren't boys full on?! gorgeous though. And I get to know more about tractors and machinery than I ever thought I would. My TV addict is currently being amused by the tv while I do this. While the other is out with Dad on the motorbike. I have mixed feelings about my oldest going to school. He is so ready to go and I am ready for him to go too, but then he just wont be a baby at all anymore - a full blown child/young person. I will miss being the centre of his universe and I'm sure i will hear plenty of "but mrs _______ said ________ mum!" And I will miss misleading them on certain things - like the fact that I have convinced them that the MDF plant is a cloud factory (the huge clouds of steam that come billowing out) but I will enjoy seeing him be more independant and learn all those things and hopefully become the child I know he is capable of being.
What do I intend to write about in this blog? Everything, anything. Silliness and seriousness. Excitement and disbelief. Its pretty much my world according to me - reality may or may not be included. Hehehe.
